CSR Europe's Event - Enhance Sustainability in the Battery Value Chain

CLOSED EVENT-BY INVITATION ONLY

View Agenda

The rise in demand for electric vehicles has driven an increase in the sourcing of critical raw materials such as lithium, copper, and cobalt. The rising tendency has highlighted the urgency to address environmental and social conditions involved in the upstream parts of the supply chain.

To enhance the security and sustainability of sourcing those materials and to support local populations working in and around extractive industries, additional measures alongside regulations and guidelines are needed.

The Extractives for Sustainability project, carried out with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), was set up to present answers to the challenges the extractives industry faces, empowering local actors through a practical on-the-ground approach.

This webinar will bring together local partners of the project, members of Drive Sustainability, mining industry representatives and actors from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) with the primary objective of understanding how local sustainability networks around mining operations can support overcoming some of the challenges related to raw materials sourcing.

JOIN THIS WEBINAR TO:

  • Learn how local sustainability networks around mining operations can support overcoming some of the challenges related to raw materials sourcing.

  • Exchange and discuss lessons learned during the Extractives for Sustainability project.

  • Explore the way forward of the sustainability networks.
