With the support of:
Empowering Multicultural Talent to Build Belgium’s Future
Powered by CSR Europe, with the King Baudouin Foundation and the Prince Philippe Fund, Business Uniting Talents 2030 (BUT2030) is a national peer-learning and collaboration platform dedicated to fostering multicultural integration in the Belgian labour market.
The initiative supports companies and sector federations in designing and implementing inclusive employment practices that reflect Belgium’s diverse society. This ensures individuals with non-EU and migrant backgrounds can access quality jobs, career development, and leadership opportunities.
At a time when many industries face labour shortages, ageing workforces, and skills gaps, BUT2030 brings together leaders who believe that multicultural inclusion strengthens performance and drives competitiveness for Belgium’s future.
Why It Matters
• 30% of Belgium’s population has an immigrant background
• Non-EU immigrants face a 20% lower employment rate
• Belgium ranks among the lowest in the EU for labour integration
• 72% of employers struggle to fill vacancies
Inclusive workplaces are not just fairer — they’re smarter and stronger. BUT2030 helps close the employment gap by connecting enterprises, federations, and employees to build a more inclusive labour market in Belgium.
What’s in It for Companies?
1. Concrete action and assessments
2. Training for industry federations
3. Peer learning and workshops
4. Cross-sector collaboration

Unite 100+ organisations committed to systemic change.
Tackle concrete challenges together through hands-on workshops and exchanges with experts.
Host a national gathering at the Royal Palace to assess progress.
Deliver a shared Roadmap to 2030 for inclusive employment in Belgium.
From commitment to impact — shaping Belgium’s workforce for the future.
The Four Pledges Toward Inclusive Workplaces
At the 2024 Royal Palace Ceremony, companies and federations united around four key pledges to make diversity, equity, and inclusion part of Belgium’s business DNA, guiding organisations to embed inclusive practices from strategy to accountability and measure real progress over time.
-
Continue to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion are a part of the company’s strategic vision, endorsed by the top management and reflected in annual reporting.
-
Allocate resources towards DEI training and education for all staff, with a particular focus on HR and leadership teams. This investment aims to cultivate a culture of learning and inclusion, utilizing initiatives to promote organization-wide diversity awareness. Assign clear roles and responsibilities to each manager and establish a reporting process that ensures employees feel secure in reporting instances of exclusion. Additionally, provide guidance on where employees can seek support and assistance when needed.
-
Provide development opportunities, bring clarity on leadership skills and support employees in their career ambitions. Encourage continuous lifelong learning to foster growth.
Bring awareness on biases, promote inclusivity, and ensure equity throughout the talent management process, from attracting and hiring, to advancing, retaining, and recognizing employees.
-
Explore comprehensive measurement practices to track progress such as qualitative data collection, while acknowledging its inherent limitations. In addition, consider assessing DEI initiatives for effectiveness and adjust as necessary.
