RBF Poland Leads Enterprises to Respect Children’s Rights

The Children's Charter of Rights in Business has just been established. Its aim is to foster a respectful approach in a corporate environment towards kids and youth in the whole value chain. Responsible Business Forum released it jointly with partner companies and NGOs in the midst of July 2023.

The Charter applies to the wide range of activities undertaken by businesses. It points out the need to protect children’s rights along each and every step of service and product development. Due diligence prioritization covers areas such as marketing and promotion - especially when children’s image unfolds - but also sales and distribution.

The newly published document does not only push enterprises to set requirements for suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders but also binds to promote good practices with parties having an interest in corporate affairs.

Topical European regulations, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) are shedding light on the importance of human rights observation from the angle of business. Specific requirements are being brought up to either fully prevent abuses or mitigate looming risks.

Followingly, Responsible Business Forum is planning to acquire Signatories, provide them with educational materials and make sure the submitted rules of the Charter are respected.

Children's Charter of Rights in Business has been built upon the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights; OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct; and Children’s Rights and Business Principles developed by UNICEF, The Global Compact and Save the Children.
