GD4S Launches First Sustainability Charter to Drive the Energy Transition in Europe

  •  The document is the result of a thorough process involving companies and stakeholders and facilitated by CSR Europe for Gas Distributors for Sustainability. The Charter aims to guide the seven largest Gas Distribution System Operators in Europe in the development of reliable, safe, and sustainable gas networks.

Gas Distributors for Sustainability (GD4S) released its first sustainability charter, outlining the common commitments of its members to the decarbonisation of the energy system and contribution to a carbon neutral Europe by 2050. The charter, developed in collaboration with CSR Europe, takes a holistic approach to positioning gas Distribution System Operators (DSOs) as central in facilitating Europe’s transition to a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable economy.

In the Charter's development process CSR Europe supported GD4S with key intelligence and methodologies to ensure the definition of an ambitious and actionable roadmap. Key steps included the analysis of EU policies and stakeholder expectations; validation of the commitments in direct dialogue with stakeholder; the development of a materiality poll; the definition of a concrete roadmap with best practices.
