ATELIER – Navigating Regulatory Requirements in Climate Transition Plans

The accelerating impacts of climate change, shifting consumer expectations, and rising stakeholder demands have reshaped the corporate landscape. Companies across Europe are under increasing pressure to reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrate credible strategies for managing climate-related risks. Regulatory frameworks, particularly those introduced by the European Commission, are driving this transformation.

Since the 2015 Paris Agreement, landmark measures such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) have established a new level of accountability. These frameworks require businesses to align their models with the 1.5°C climate target, disclose emissions across their operations and value chains, and embed due diligence and resilience into their strategies. In particular, ESRS E1 on Climate Change guides companies in developing robust Climate Transition Plans, a central tool for both compliance and long-term competitiveness.

Yet, compliance alone is not enough. Effective Climate Transition Plans must go beyond written policies, providing clear roadmaps with science-based targets, milestones, and practical decarbonization strategies. Done well, they can unlock new business value, boosting competitiveness, securing sustainable finance, and strengthening stakeholder trust.

To support this journey, CSR Europe is launching the ATELIER Series: Climate Transition Plans for Business Resilience. Through a combination of webinars and an in-person bootcamp, the series will equip members with practical guidance to navigate CSRD and CSDDD requirements, integrate regulatory obligations into actionable strategies, and refine transition roadmaps.

The series starts on 25 September 2025 with the webinar Navigating Regulatory Requirements in Climate Transition Plans.
