EUROPEAN SDG ROUNDTABLE - Overcoming the European Truck Drivers' Shortage

We are addressing the following SDGs:

SPEAKERS

Truck drivers are essential to ensure the supply of goods across Europe. However, carriers are experiencing more and more difficulties in finding people to fill the open positions. According to industry associations, 400.000 drivers should be hired at European level to cover current market demands. Several factors are contributing to such shortage: difficulties in recruiting young workers and women for the industry due to the poor working conditions; increased demand of truck drivers; stricter rules set in the “EU Mobility Package”; an aging of the workforce - the average age of European drivers is 50 years old.

Join this session to learn about the European legal and policy framework in the road and logistics sector and what industry leaders are doing to address the shortage of truck drivers in Europe. The roundtable will also focus on how companies can improve the working conditions of truck drivers and implement impact-oriented due diligence strategies.
