EUROPEAN SDG ROUNDTABLE - The State of the Union on Sustainable Industry

Industry Federations Sustainability Roadmap.PNG

We are addressing the following SDGs:

SPEAKERS

The 2021 heatwaves across Europe have highlighted once more the impact of climate change and the urgency to speed up the energy transition towards more sustainable sources. To meet the goal of the Paris Agreement of limiting the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, annual energy-related CO2 emissions need to fall by more than 70 percent by 2050.

The transition toward a low carbon energy system will require structural efforts from all industry sectors to adopt clean technologies, embed environmental policies into their strategy, and maximise synergies within sectors. Industry federations are uniquely positioned to scale up the individual efforts of their member companies and the implementation of sustainability roadmaps.

With the European Pact for Sustainable Industry, CSR Europe is supporting the creation of industrial alliances to accelerate activities that would not develop otherwise and discuss new business partnerships and models.

In this Roundtable, the Industry Federations that are member of the European Pact for Sustainable Industry will present their best practices towards the establishment of strategic roadmaps for their sectors and how to enhance transition pathways for ecosystems.

This session will present the first results of the European Sustainable Industry Barometer developed by CSR Europe in collaboration with Moody’s Vigeo Eiris.  Participants will have the opportunity to better understand the level of maturity of European industry federations on sustainability and where additional efforts are needed.
