As the European Union enters a pivotal phase of regulatory evolution, the role of credible sustainability systems is coming into sharper focus. On 1 October 2025, CSR Europe will join leading policymakers, business leaders, and sustainability system experts at the ISEAL Sustainability Policy Forum in Brussels to explore the role of voluntary sustainability schemes in shaping and supporting strong, coherent European policy.
ISEAL Sustainability Forum
Organised by ISEAL, this high-level forum will bring together voices from across sectors and institutions to explore how credible, collaborative sustainability systems can help advance due diligence, climate action, green claims, and broader supply chain transformation.
CSR Europe’s Executive Director, Stefan Crets, will contribute to the closing plenary debate, focusing on how companies and policymakers can move from compliance to leadership in this new landscape.
The session will also explore the balance between voluntary and mandatory measures and how to unlock impact at scale across complex value chains.
Why this matters now
Europe’s sustainability regulation has moved from aspiration to implementation. From the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) to the Green Claims Directive and evolving taxonomies, there is a growing need for practical, trusted mechanisms that can deliver real change, not just reporting.
Voluntary sustainability systems, when designed and governed credibly, can provide the tools, data, and partnerships to make this shift possible.
ISEAL has long been at the forefront of this work. Through its membership network and technical guidance, it helps ensure that market-driven sustainability schemes are rigorous, transparent, and fit for purpose. This forum offers a timely opportunity to align efforts and ensure policy frameworks reflect both ambition and practical realities.

Discussions on how sustainability systems can contribute to regulatory success
