Reaching Europe’s climate neutrality by 2050, as set out in the European Green Deal, requires companies to address the impact of decarbonisation on people’s lives. Job loss, gaps in skills, no access to talents, human rights breaches, customers’ disengagement, and society’s mistrust are only some examples of possible effects caused by companies’ disengagement and their inability to offer proper support to workers, suppliers, customers, and communities.

To avoid this grim outlook, CSR Europe is kicking off the Atelier series “Developing a People-Centred Approach to the Workforce” on 27th April. Over the course of three sessions, we will accompany corporate members on a journey to address the social dimension of the ESG and ensure the well-being of people amidst the green and digital transformation in the post-pandemic context. Together, we will explore how to measure the impact of business activities on people’s lives, design practical remedial actions, and advance solutions toward equality and inclusion.

The first session will set the stage with an introduction to the topic of Just Transition in the European context and a focus on why and how businesses can act to support employees and invest in their growth. Afterward, corporate members will receive a short assessment of their efforts with regard to their people-centered strategies.

Building on the results of the assessments, the second event will focus on the actions that can be taken inside the company: how can you enhance your workforce's well-being and foster employability? CSR Europe will present an anonymised benchmark based on the results of the assessment of participating companies. Personal reports will be shared individually with the assessed businesses.

Finally, in the third and last installment of the Atelier, we will tackle the challenge of workforce transformation from the outside: how can companies improve their recruitment processes and partnerships to access a new pool of talents? All the best practices and recommendations developed in the Atelier will be shared with participants in a final paper.
