Leveraging the Role of CFO and CSO to Advance on Sustainability

  • On 31st March, CSR Europe’s corporate members are invited to join the first session of the three-part Atelier series “Investing for Impact” aimed at fostering effective collaboration and alignment between the finance and sustainability departments in light of new EU measures on corporate reporting and green investments.

Almost all companies would agree nowadays on the importance of embedding sustainability in their business model. However, how many have policies that promote employees’ awareness and cross-functional collaboration on sustainability?

In the 2022 Atelier series “Investing for Impact” CSR Europe supports its corporate members in building up collaboration between the sustainability and finance departments to raise awareness on the efforts needed towards the green and inclusive transition in light of the upcoming EU sustainability reporting standards and the EU Taxonomy.

The first session  “Internal Decision-Making in Sustainability & Finance”  on 31st March focuses on the role played by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the finance department in ensuring the prioritisation of key sustainability-related topics and processes, like the definition of the company’s sustainability and investment strategy, in line with policymakers’ priorities.

CSR Europe, in collaboration with by experts from Datamaran and leading financial institutions, will support member companies in understanding the impact of double materiality and will test companies’ internal practices through an interactive scenarios exercise, in which practitioners will have to face and react to new internal and external challenges, including for instance Taxonomy-related reporting. Additionally, the event will deep dive into the main day-to-day challenges of aligning finance and sustainability-related priorities, with leading companies sharing their experience and best practices. Speakers include representatives of the EFRAG Taskforce on Double Materiality and the UN Global Compact.

Building up on this first session, CSR Europe members are furthermore invited to register to the following two appointments:

Participation to all three sessions of the Atelier series is strongly suggested, as each session builds upon previous learnings.
