Enel's Sustainability Report 2020

Sustainability Enel

The adoption of a sustainable and integrated business model in 2015, allowed Enel to seize the opportunities in the energy sector linked to the global trends of decarbonisation and electrification, and to position itself among the leaders of the energy transition.

Thanks to this approach, Enel is today a more sustainable, efficient, and profitable company, with a significantly lower risk profile and a greater ability to adapt quickly to changes.

The 2020-2022 strategy focuses on achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along the entire value chain, with SDG 13 (Fight against climate change) at the center. The decarbonisation of the energy mix, through an ever-greater growth of renewable capacity (SDG 7 - Clean and accessible energy), and the gradual closure of coal plants, together with the electrification of consumption, represent the pillars of the next three years. The enabling factors are infrastructures and networks, in line with SDG 9 (Industry, innovation, and infrastructures), as well as ecosystems and platforms, in line with SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities).
