CSR Europe Amongst the Founding Members of the Responsible Supply Chain Initiative

  • The new association aims at supporting stakeholders in the implementation of supply chain sustainability in the automotive sector.

CSR Europe has joined forces with the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) to found the Responsible Supply Chain Initiative (RSCI) together with 13 other manufacturers, suppliers, and associations – Audi AG, Bayerische Moteren Werke AG (BMW Group), Brose Fahrzeugteile, CLEPA, Daimler, Porsche, Ford-Werke, Kirchhoff Automotive, Magna International, Man Truck & Bus, Robert Bosch, Schaeffler, Volkswagen. RSCI will operate as an independent association under the umbrella of VDA.

“CSR Europe - as facilitator of Drive Sustainability, the global sustainable supply chain collaborative platform in the automotive sector - is honoured to be amongst the founders of this important initiative”, commented Stefan Crets, Executive Director of CSR Europe. “The Responsible Supply Chain Initiative is a welcomed step forward to facilitate and scale up collaboration between car makers and suppliers towards sustainable and inclusive value chains”.

RSCI aims to support all stakeholders in the automotive sector in establishing a high level of sustainability in the supply chains by fulfilling the requirements of customers, legislators and stakeholders. Together with the other founding members, CSR Europe is developing a standardized test procedure for evaluating the sustainability performance of companies in automotive supply chains. This will be achieved by on-site assessments and corresponding follow-up with relevant companies, while taking into account antitrust rules. The aim is to create fundamental transparency about working conditions, which is why corresponding tests are carried out directly at the production site.
