Even during a year filled with uncertainty, the company continued to take action by advancing its ESG goals and working toward new, more ambitious plans, including its 2025 packaging goals, its 2030 climate goal, and its new 2030 water strategy.

Coca-Cola’s 2020 Business & ESG Report outlines the company’s Sustainability Business Priorities:

  • Water Leadership: during 2020, the company launched a bold new strategy to increase water security for its business, communities, and nature.

  • Reducing Added Sugar: Coca-Cola continues to adjust its recipes to reduce added sugar and promote low and no-calorie beverage options.

  • World without Waste: in 2018, Coca-Cola launched an ambitious sustainable packaging initiative called World Without Waste, and continues to make progress despite the challenges from the pandemic.

  • Climate: Having achieved its “drink in your hand” goal to reduce relative carbon emissions by 25% by 2020- against a 2010 baseline- Coca-Cola is now working toward its 2030 Science-Based Target to reduce absolute GHG emissions 25% by 2030

  • Sustainable Agriculture: during 2020, Coca-Cola conducted a comprehensive review of its policies and principles for sustainable agriculture and will continue to work with suppliers and partners to create systemic change in its agricultural supply chain.

  • People & Communities: Respect for human rights is at the foundation of Coca-Cola business, guiding its interactions with employees, bottling partners, suppliers, customers, and consumers.
