BITCI Ireland: What makes a Climate Transition Plan truly robust?

TThat question is at the core of Accelerate – The Business Pact for Climate and Nature, the collective action campaign driving business ambition on climate and biodiversity, launched by Business in the Community Ireland in December 2024.
Climate Transition Plans are essential for building competitiveness, resilience, and innovation as businesses navigate the challenges of climate change and nature loss. But not all plans deliver real impact — gaps or weak commitments can slow progress and create risks for companies, investors, and governments alike.
On November 20th, Business in the Community Ireland and our partners at the DCU Institute for Climate and Society will unveil Ireland’s first Climate Transition Plan Scorecard — a landmark assessment examining existing climate transition plans through nine key lenses, including finance, governance, nature, and just transition.
We will explore what makes a credible and ambitious Climate Transition Plan — and how Irish businesses can move from intention to tangible progress.
