WE STRIVE FOR:

THE CHALLENGE

The introduction of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) have been an important step from the European Commission to hold companies operating in the EU market accountable for their ESG impacts.

The sustainability reporting landscape has immensely evolved and transformed into a rather challenging space for companies to wander: companies are confused and overwhelmed with the number of requirements they are asked to report on.

OUR APPROACH

To address these challenges and work towards a smoother implementation of the upcoming ESRS, CSR Europe decided to create a group of business leaders, experts, and civil society organisations, from different sectors and perspectives - Bridgestone, EPSON, Enel, Forética, FTI Consulting, Leonardo, Solvay, Titan Cement, Unipol Sai, World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) - that will commit to contributing to potential solutions.

The objective is to share insights and expertise on how the ESRS can be adopted by any European company and how SMEs can gain knowledge and support from their multinational counterparts.

WHAT WE DELIVER

The Leadership Hub will run from February to December 2023 and its work will contribute to the 18-month process aimed at building CSR Europe’s policy position towards the next European Elections, taking place in spring 2024. The ultimate purpose of this exercise is to strengthen the voice of proactive businesses for a European sustainability strategy that equally considers and pursues social equity, climate action, and nature preservation.

Key milestones include:

  • The participation to the public consultation on the horizontal set of ESRS.

  • A letter to EU Commissioner McGuinness.

  • Policy recommendations on the ESRS towards a more integrated performance by multinational companies and SMEs.
