From Resources to Resilience: Turning Water, Energy and Circularity into Industrial Value

  • from 14.00 to 15.00
    and from 15.00 to 16.00
    13 October 2026

Context

European industry is facing a growing need to strengthen resilience while remaining competitive in an increasingly resource-constrained and volatile environment. Water scarcity, energy security, decarbonisation requirements and material efficiency are no longer separate sustainability challenges; they have become interconnected business priorities that directly affect operational continuity, costs and long-term growth.

As industries transition towards more sustainable production models, innovative approaches to resource management are creating new opportunities to transform waste streams into valuable inputs, strengthen industrial ecosystems and enhance competitiveness. This Learning Lab explores how water, energy and circularity can work together as drivers of industrial value creation and resilience.

ABOUt the learning labs

This Learning Lab will examine how businesses can move beyond compliance-driven sustainability strategies and leverage resource efficiency, circularity and infrastructure innovation as sources of competitive advantage.

Drawing on practical industry examples, participants will explore how secondary resource streams, industrial symbiosis and critical infrastructure can contribute to both environmental performance and business resilience.

 Key learning Outcomes:

  • How industrial waste streams and secondary resources can be transformed into high-value inputs.

  • How water stewardship, circularity and energy transition strategies can reinforce one another.

  • How ports and other critical infrastructures are evolving into hubs for industrial resilience, decarbonisation and circular value chains.

  • How companies can shift from viewing sustainability as a compliance obligation to using it as a strategic business driver.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • Sustainability Directors and ESG Leaders

  • Operations and Manufacturing Managers

  • Energy and Resource Efficiency Managers

  • Circular Economy and Innovation Professionals
