Building on the new paradigm in EU industrial policy - where climate and economic security ambitions are increasingly aligned - the Learning Lab will explore how companies can strengthen industrial competitiveness through sustainability. In line with the ambition of CSR Europe and the European Chief Sustainability Officers (CSO) Network to position Europe as a global leader in sustainability-driven value creation, the session will highlight how sustainability can move beyond compliance to become a core driver of value creation, resilience, and long-term business growth.

ABOUT THE LEARNING LABS

The Learning Lab will present the CSR Europe Sustainable Value Creation Framework, developed through practical projects and extensive dialogue within the CSO Network. The framework identifies five “sustainable transformation roots” - governance, strategy, human capital, product innovation, and external ecosystems - where deeper transformation is required to effectively embed sustainability into core business operations.

Participants will explore how strengthening these areas can unlock key value drivers such as cost and resource optimisation, risk reduction, business growth and innovation, improved access to capital, and enhanced brand reputation. As part of the overall objectives of the Learning Lab, participants will gain a deeper understanding of:

  • The importance of aligning sustainability governance with executive decision-making.

  • The importance of integrating ESG priorities into business strategy through clear, measurable KPIs.

  • The need to invest in people and skills to enable and sustain transformation.

  • The role of sustainable product innovation and collaboration in opening new market opportunities.

  • The importance of consistent communication to ensure sustainability efforts translate into measurable business value and long-term competitiveness.
