SPEAKERS

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the digitalization of education and work, highlighting the potential of digital technologies and tools in schools and workplaces. But how to use these technologies & tools properly? Many employees still lack basic digital skills and are consequently at risk of losing their jobs.

To improve this situation, action is needed on two fronts. The first is at school, preparing students to enter the labour market with strong digital skills. The second is in companies, developing digital upskilling and reskilling programs for adults, and encouraging continuous learning and training.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) jobs especially see a significant shortage of skills and people. Companies can play an active role in inspiring and supporting young people & women to pursue STEM careers (i.e. through apprenticeships and scholarships) to work towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.

This is exactly what the Together 4 STEM partners are doing. In 2019, CSR Europe in collaboration with Amgen, Huawei and Johnson & Johnson launched STEM@Home - an online collaborative platform for students and teachers with free multi-lingual STEM resources, games, and tests to help students to advance their digital skills and facilitate their careers in STEM fields.
