Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are crucial to overcome the challenges posed by the ongoing climate crisis. In this respect, a holistic approach involving public-private partnerships is needed to strike the right balance between the prosperity of the planet and that of people. In this context, CSR Europe’s collaborative platform “Together 4 STEM” offers a bridge to close the gap between the needs of the industry and the skills taught at schools.

At the open webinar “Together 4 STEM Goes Green”, hosted by CSR Europe on 3rd May, Together 4 STEM partners Amgen, Huawei, Johnson & Johnson, and Toyota announced the new approach of the platform, aimed at engaging directly with students, teachers, and policymakers to foster STEM skills at the local level.  Younger generations are not only increasingly conscious of climate – related issues, but they can play a key role in breaking stereotypes and triggering behavioural shifts in adults. At the same time, companies’ engagement with teachers can also make the difference in accelerating the journey towards climate-related education by providing them with the latest resources and learning content. Ultimately, the direction taken by Together 4 STEM is aligned with the one set in the European Commission’s proposal for a Council recommendation on learning for environmental sustainability and the EU Green Week, taking place until the 5th of June.
