Biodiversity loss is one of the most relevant and yet unresolved challenges that our society is facing today.
According to the latest SDGs Report of the United Nations, most of the biodiversity-linked SDG targets with a 2020 deadline made insufficient or no progress at all. Flora and fauna are silently disappearing whilst the number of endangered species is quickly rising. Yet, business depends on biodiversity to thrive and prompt action is necessary.
That’s why, in line with the EU’s biodiversity strategy for 2030, 7 leading companies have joined forces in the collaborative platform Biodiversity & Industry, to tackle biodiversity pressure points along the value chain and integrate biodiversity into business decision-making processes.
In this session, the partners of the platform will share their experiences. After a keynote speech on the EU Taxonomy on biodiversity, a first panel will discuss how to integrate biodiversity considerations into operational activities and specific projects and how to take advantage of tools like the Guiding Framework (recently developed by CSR Europe). The second panel will focus on practical experiences from member companies on biodiversity management & strategy to discuss what needs to be in place in companies to tackle biodiversity properly.
