CORE Platform Launches the Malta Diversity & Inclusion Charter

 
 

On 20th March, CORE Platform, launched the Malta Diversity & Inclusion Charter under the auspices of Hon. Julia Farrugia Portelli, Minister for Inclusion and Social Wellbeing, and with the endorsement of Parliament Secretary for Reforms and Equality, Rebecca Buttigieg. This initiative marks a significant milestone in promoting diversity and inclusion within the Maltese community. 

Hon. Julia Farrugia Portelli expressed her support for the initiative, stating, "Inclusion and social well-being are paramount for the advancement of our society. The Malta Diversity and Inclusion Charter sets a precedent for fostering equality and acceptance within our communities."

Parliament Secretary for Reforms and Equality, Rebecca Buttigieg, emphasized the significance of the charter and the commitment of the Human Rights Directorate to support it actively. "The Human Rights Directorate is proud to endorse the Malta Diversity and Inclusion Charter. We are committed to providing financial and logistical support for the Annual Conference for the next three years. This conference will serve as a platform to create awareness and offer practical guidance on embracing diversity and inclusion in the workplace," she stated. The Human Rights Directorate has become the first public entity to endorse the charter, publicly affirming its commitment to these principles.

APS Bank, a leading local financial institution, has also pledged its support by becoming the first local bank and business entity to endorse the Malta Diversity and Inclusion Charter. APS Bank has further committed to actively support and financially contribute to the Annual Conference organized by CORE Platform, scheduled for May 22nd.

The launch of the Malta Diversity and Inclusion Charter heralds a new era of inclusivity and equality in Malta. As more entities join this initiative, we move closer to building a society where everyone feels valued and respected.  CORE Platform Executive Julian Dingli recounted the inception of this project soon after joining the organisation in May 2022. CORE Platform President Helga B. Ellul opening speech reaffirmed the importance of Diversity & Inclusion at the workplace, how this charter is an effective tool to ethically guide employers in their Human Resources processes, and how a diverse and inclusive work policy added to the organisation's core values and culture will aid to grow and thrive, support talent acquisition, and reduce employee turnover.

CORE Platform will now organise the Malta Diversity & Inclusion Charter Conference on May 22nd with the support of APS Bank and the Human Rights Directorate amongst other sponsors. This event is aimed at HR Professionals Directors and CEOs who believe and want to learn more about how they can implement D&I in their organisation. Amongst key speakers, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola will address the conference highlighting the work and commitment of the European Parliament towards equality on all levels.
