Commissioner Barnier calls for swift action at GRI event

SmartKolektiv holds breakfast session on corporate volunteering

On 14 May, the occasion of the forthcoming Business Leaders Forum Serbia's corporate volunteering day “Our Belgrade”, a working breakfast on the subject of "How to Start a Corporate Volunteering Program" was held at Smart Kolektiv's office. Representatives of the companies were introduced with the concept of corporate volunteering, the experiences in this area so far, as well as practical advices on how to motivate the employees, how to choose volunteering activities and how to measure the effects of volunteering programs.

Volkswagen explore ecological challenges through art

VolkswagenFollowing the successful collaboration between Volkswagen and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and MoMA PS1 in exploring ecological challenges through art, the partners have agreed to extend the cooperation for a further two years.The partnership produced various works of art and forums that addressed environmental issues.  In EXPO 1: New York, Volkswagen donated a dome that will serve as a centre for cultural exchange and education - particularly related to the topic of sustainability in cities… Read more

EU Communication on “A Decent Life for All: Ending poverty and giving the world a sustainable future” published

To effectively address the challenges of both poverty eradication and sustainable development, the European Commission recommends to go forward with one single overarching framework for post 2015.It will incorporate the processes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as well as the Rio+20 achievements.  For this framework, the European Commission identifies a number of priority areas (e.g.  ensuring basic living standards, promoting drivers for inclusive and sustainable growth, ensuring sustainable management of natural resources, promoting equality equity and justice as well as peace and security)… Read more

CSR Europe speaks to MSD's Alexander Roediger

BASF relaunches sustainable development newsletter

BASFBASF Corporate Sustainability Relations has relaunched its Sustainability newsletter with the new name "SD Update – Newsletter Sustainable Development". Novartis receives award for social ventures initiative

CSE provides first Certified Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner training

Audi and Columbia University investigate future mobility

VolkswagenAudi recently teamed up with Columbia University to address urban mobility.  In 2050 the number of people living in cities is set to reach seven billion.  The need to innovate new solutions to this form of living and provide the necessary transport and networking links is a key focus of the both the automotive manufacturer and the university.Their cooperation has produced five hypotheses, which they identify as "the most essential principles of urban density."  These are: "transgenerational capacity", “asymmetric mobility”, “complexity”, “migration” and “generosity”… Read more

Norwegian CSR Awards winners celebrated in Oslo

The winners of the European CSR Awards Scheme in Norway were proudly announced at the national ceremony in the Norwegian Opera House in Oslo on the 16th of May. In the category small and medium-sized companies UNIT4 Agresso was awarded the prize for the project "Enterprise Resource Planning System Agresso accessible for blind and partially sighted", in cooperation with the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (NABP). Only 30% of the 180.000 blind and partially sighted persons in Norway are employed… Read more
