Unilever and L'Oréal lead in increasing climate transparency

European Commission publishes introductory guide to human rights for SMEs
The European Commission has published an introductory guide to human rights for SMEs This guide is consistent with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Human rights guidance for oil and gas sector now online for public consultation
The Oil & Gas (O&G) sector guidance is now online for public consultation and will be open for comment through Friday 1 February 2013. Comments can be submitted to the project team at sectorguidance@ihrb.org by 1 February.It is the European Commission’s intention to produce practical, useful guidance for businesses on implementing the Guiding Principles, which is not intended to be legally binding. BASF environmental programs are recognized by the wildlife habitat council
BASF Corporation’s Coatings Technical Support Center in Whitehouse, Ohio, has received Wildlife at Work recertification from the Wildlife Habitat Council.The Wildlife at Work program provides a structure for corporate-driven cooperative efforts between management, employees and community members to create, conserve and restore wildlife habitats on corporate lands. Sustainability agendas must be kept 'real' says Unilever CSO
Sustainability managers need to take a more pragmatic approach if they want to effect change and secure buy-in across their organisations, Unilever's chief sustainability officer Gail Klintworth has said.Speaking at the Sustainable Brands conference in London earlier today, Klintworth said that while having bold vision was "crucial" in terms of aspiration, companies also needed to "think about systems that can be practically applied - that's really important for business". Renault launches disabled-access mapping of its French sites
For World Disability Day today, December 3, 2012, Renault is calling on its employees to test access to its sites for people with reduced mobility. The company has developed a site-listing tool with the Jaccede association, whose collaborative guide today covers 26,000 locations in France and 7,000 outside France. Renault has since 1995 led a proactive policy to help people with disabilities fully assume their place in society and the professional world.The www.jaccede.com collaborative platform has since 2006 allowed users to list public establishments such as stores, government buildings and post offices that have access for people with reduced mobility… Read more
