Investors address Human Rights in electronics supply chains

Stating that "supply chain factories can be stressful and abusive workplaces, according to interviews with workers," a coalition of more than 40 investors, led by members of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) has called on electronics manufacturers in their portfolios to implement stricter supply chain compliance. Intel comes out on top in green governance rankings in the US

Intel is among companies which have the strongest environmental governance and policies, according to a study that looked at the practices of the largest publically traded firms in the U.S. The latest company evaluations done with the Governance and Environmental Management Strength (GEMS) Rating found firms that are performing strongly in every major sector, but also found a large chunk of companies that are severely lagging.The GEMS Rating gives companies a score on a 100-point scale, based on their ability to anticipate and manage environmental issues that offer risks and opportunities to their operations… Read more

The Prince’s Countryside Fund launched by HRH with support from BITC

The Prince's Countryside Fund, a collaboration of businesses working together to secure a sustainable future for British agriculture and the wider rural economy, was launched on July 22 at St James's Palace by HRH The Prince of Wales and leaders of the food industry. The funding raised will be channelled into providing grants to projects, large and small, that are delivering the three core objectives of The Prince's Countryside Fund. These objectives focus on improving the sustainability of British farming and rural communities, targeting the areas of greatest need; reconnecting consumers with countryside issues; and supporting farming crisis charities through a dedicated emergency funding stream… Read more

Non-financial reporting in Ukraine: CSR Ukraine Community published results of the CSR reporting review

The review of the non‐financial reporting in Ukraine was conducted in April‐May 2010 by CSR Ukraine Community upon the initiative of the Global Compact network in Ukraine. The research, for the first time ever, classified and analyzed all social reports, CSR reports, reports on sustainable development, UN Global Compact communications on progress (CoP) published in Ukraine. New Model for KPIs unveiled by Ethical Performance

A model system for developing key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to mandatory sustainability reporting has been put forward in a new research report. "From Transparency to Performance: Industry-Based Sustainability Reporting on Key Issues" has been written in conjunction with Arup. The IRI is a project of the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Harvard University. The document presents a system to identify KPIs by industry sector, and applies this to six industries.
