CSR Europe’s Due Diligence in Action Atelier Series: A Guide to Navigate Supply Chain Sustainability

  • The series is designed to aid companies in their compliance efforts towards the respect of human rights and the environment across their value chain. Corporate members are invited to join the first session of the series, taking place online on 7 March.

  • The event will focus on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), members’ expectations and challenges, as well as the implications of the failed approval by the EU Council.

The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) stands as a pivotal piece of legislation poised to establish robust regulatory standards addressing the profound impact that companies wield on human rights and the environment throughout their supply chains. To into its implications, CSR Europe is convening its corporate members for the inaugural session of the Atelier series “Due Diligence in Action”, taking place online on 7th March. During the session, the European Commission will provide insights into the CS3D and offer guidance on preparing for compliance with its requirements. Furthermore, we will highlight how the CS3D aligns with the broader international regulatory framework for supply chain sustainability, defined by guidelines such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct.

Finally, given the recent setbacks in the adoption of the CS3D, following the European Council's failed vote on 28th February, CSR Europe invites participating corporate members to respond to the current situation and articulate their companies’ position regarding the directive. To facilitate constructive dialogue among participants, the event will adhere to Chatham House rules.

Embracing a proactive stance toward impeding sustainability regulations not only constitutes a crucial aspect of due diligence but also serves to fortify the resilience of companies’ value chains over the long term, with significant implications for both value creation and reputation management.
