On December 18 2015, the European Commission launched a public consultation on European Union long-term sustainable investment in order to assess the current state of play.
This consultation focusses on how sustainability information is factored into investment decisions by institutional investors, asset managers and other service providers along the investment chain.
Focus is also put on company performances and assets that feed into these investment decisions. In addition, the consultation looks at obstacles to long-term sustainable investment.
After the consultation, the European Commission plans to publish a feedback document of the results obtained.
Sustainable investments are those strategies that structurally factor in environmental, social and governance issues, as well as the long-term health and stability of the market as a whole.
The target groups are all citizens, public authorities, companies and organisations that wish to contribute.
The consultation is open until March 25 2016 and falls under the responsibility of DG Justice and Consumers, Company Law Unit (DG JUST Unit A.3).
