Amidst the challenges of employability, social inclusion and well-being brought about by the green and digital transition - and accelerated by the pandemic - the European SDG Summit’s high-level plenary “Creating a Future-proof and Inclusive Work” will define what companies can do practically to remain successful in the new normal.

As businesses undergo the green and digital transformation, reinventing their business model, how can they take care of their employees, communities, and stakeholders at large? How can companies empower their workforce and leave no one behind vis-à-vis the Future of Work? How can Diversity & Inclusion, Well-being, and Human Capital Development become the new pillars of corporate action?

At the session, CSR Europe will launch the Blueprint “Companies for an Inclusive Society” - developed with the support of PwC Belgium - in the presence of European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit.

The Blueprint is the result of the action-oriented Inclusion Think Tank – run by CSR Europe with the support of Enel - whose ambition is to:

  • Take stock of all insights and challenges and rethink the “entire value chain of creation”.

  • Ensure a renewed interest towards employees’ needs, well-being, and inclusion, and the integration of a truly people-centered approach in companies’ activities.

  • Provide policymakers and peers with practical suggestions and potential guidance, based on the challenges experienced.

Fourteen organisations – Adecco, Enel, Engie, the European Trade Union Confederation, Hitachi, HP, IBM, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Microsoft, Organisation for Economic Co-operation, and Development (OECD), SGI Europe (formerly CEEP), Sodalitas, Titan, TotalEnergies – took part to the project, sharing their experiences and best practices.

During the session, Anthony Gooch, Director of Public Affairs and Communication at the OECD, will highlight the main trends on the Future of Work, while European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, will focus on the upcoming priorities of the Commission with regards to the European Skills Agenda, the upcoming initiative on Social Economy and the EU Pillar for Social Rights.
