How to Overcome the Challenge of Decarbonising Supply Chains

  • Register to the second session of the three-part Atelier on supply chain decarbonisation on 21st September.

  • This member-exclusive format for practical learning will provide clarity on decarbonisation expectations, foster the exchange of ideas and best practices and nurture cross-industry collaboration. Limited seat available.

Since the launch of the Green Deal in 2020 the European Commission has introduced several policy proposals with the goal to support Europe’s transition towards climate neutrality by 2050. On 23rd June, CSR Europe hosted the first of a three-part Atelier to share with its members key insights on the upcoming EU regulations and a Corporate Net Zero Target Standard. At the event, participating companies such as Bridgestone, Enel, Hitachi, Samsung, and Total Energies discussed and identified the following key challenges for supply chain decarbonisation:

  • The need for a more comprehensive approach to sustainability that incorporates and connects sustainability issues such as human rights and carbon neutrality.

  • Internal buy-in of colleagues to support the company’s decarbonisation efforts.

  • The necessity of more and clearer guidelines for companies regarding reporting and emissions.

  • The different impact of decarbonisation efforts depending on the company and its products, i.e. mining vs. service providers– in case of an emission hotspot reduction activities may have a higher impact

  • Management of emission data: data availability, quality, comparability, harmonization, different product categories for emission accounting - and meeting requirements accordingly.

  • Importance of collaborative and sector initiatives to ensure consistency in data quality and shared tools

Building upon these findings, on the 21st September, the second session of the Atelier - “Overcoming the Challenge of Decarbonisation” will focus on practical solutions, inviting participants to exchange ideas and best practices for supply chain decarbonisation.

The workshop is aimed at procurement, sustainability, climate experts engaged in their businesses’ supply chain emissions mapping or reduction efforts, as well as practitioners that want to develop a better understanding or seek cross-industry exchange to develop collaborative solutions. Register now to secure your spot. Due to the format of the event, limited virtual seats are available.

The CSR Europe Atelier is a member-exclusive format for practical learning aimed at providing clarity on decarbonisation expectations, foster the exchange of ideas and best practices and nurture cross-industry collaboration.
