Microsoft has released a video series celebrating six individuals with disabilities, who are using accessible technologies to help transform their lives.
The video series is leading up to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, which promotes the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
There are more than 1 billion people on the planet who live with disabilities, and they continue to face barriers in their full participation in school, home and the workplace. Young people with disabilities drop out of school at higher rates, and adults with disabilities have a higher unemployment rate, than the general population.
Microsoft aims to build technologies that make it easier for people with disabilities to create, communicate and work together. They participate together with Diversity and Inclusion Officers, Assistive Technology Coordinators, and Special Educators to help create more inclusive learning environments and workplaces.
