Inspired by One Young World Summit L’Oréal offers internships for refugees

Wednesday, December 13, 2017

L’Oréal’s 'Interngration' programme provides highly-skilled young refugees with the opportunity to experience a six-month internship with the company.

Interngration was the brainchild of One Young World 2016 alumni Olivier, Pauline, Tony and Benjamin. The idea was pitched to L’Oréal Chairman and CEO Jean-Paul Agon, and the program got underway in July 2017.

The project partners with Wintegrate, a social start-up that identifies high-potential refugees and matches them with L’Oréal’s internship program. On the first round of the project five refugees from Syria and Sudan received places in the Group’s IT, communication, finance and chemicals departments. Delighted by their initial success, the project leaders are hoping to double their intake for the next round of the programme.

Aimed at people under the age of 30, One Young World Summit is designed to raise awareness, provoke thought and inspire participants to tackle big issues, such as climate change, financial crises, artificial intelligence and refugee integration.

L’Oréal has sent a delegation to the One Young World Summit every year since 2012. The goal is to encourage them to reflect on the challenges of tomorrow and imagine projects that can change the way the Group works.
