Deploy your Talents, an initiative driven by CSR Europe linked to the European Pact for Youth, has completed its first edition in Spain, led by Forética.
CA Technologies has been the first company in Spain to complete four successful engagement sessions on STEM with 55 students and 15 corporate volunteers in Madrid and Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona) between November 2015 and April 2016.
CA Technologies’ participation in “Deploy Your Talents” is part of CA EMEA corporate social responsibility program Create Tomorrow, and supports eskills4jobs initiative which the Company joined in September 2015. CA Technologies also runs the program Deploy Your Talents in Italy and Germany where it has already reached some 300 students this year.
According to Christian Lewis, Country Manager, CA Technologies Spain and Portugal, “it is essential to increase the collaboration between companies, education institutions and other stakeholders to showcase the different professional career options that can be achieved through science and technology and therefore help tackle the forecasted deficit of experts in the field.”
Deploy your Talents is a unique immersion programme for young secondary school students (aged 15 and 16) to understand the career options derived from undertaking STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines. The programme also offers a hands-on experience to see first-hand how men and women work in these fields. Through a series of sessions taking place at the school and in company premises, young adults are exposed to real-life workplace situations and can learn about the applications of STEM in everyday life. Through a series of surveys and impact measurements, participating companies can assess the positive impact of the programme.
Deploy your Talents is of particular importance in Spain as some 45% of young people aged 18-25 is unemployed, while leading sectors of the economy are facing difficulties recruiting specialized talent in STEM-related disciplines.
Forética is leading the engagement with companies and schools in Spain. Companies interested in participating in this unique programme linked to the European Pact for Youth can contact Tomás Sercovich (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
