European Investment Bank fighting against social exclusion

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will celebrate its first Social Innovation Tournament to promote innovative ideas and ways to create best practices in order to fight against social exclusion. New technologies, systems and processes are among the wide range of fields that can participate in the tournament. Ideas may also be from education and health care to natural or urban environment. According to the EIB improvements in these areas are critical to business success, and social innovation could have a significant social impact.

The competition proposes two main lines for the projects: “innovative ideas which could be implemented within a reasonable time horizon and have substantial benefits for Society” or “identify implemented innovative solutions with tangible outcomes in terms of social impact which could serve as best practices and replicable models.”

The deadline for the application,which can be individual or in group, is 14 September and the 15 selected ideas will be announced on 12 October. These finalist will be invited to present their projects at the final event in Luxembourg on 29 November.
