I have been a fan of the Trust Awards Program since the beginning. When the program launched in 2014, I oversaw Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in Switzerland. I loved the idea of having a platform to showcase the community engagement initiatives my colleagues were leading across our region in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). I imagined the Awards Program to be a source of inspiration, creating an opportunity for employees to exchange best practices and learn from each other how to meaningfully give back to our communities.
J&J has a long tradition of supporting the communities where we live and work. Our employees are driven to live the Company Credo values and act when they see help is needed. The Trust Awards allow us to celebrate these efforts and thank the many volunteers involved.
Leading the Trust Awards Committee the past three years, I have loved seeing the variety of programs happening on the ground. From a Bike Challenge across Ireland organized to connect employees from various sites while raising money for a local hospital, to a mentoring program for entrepreneurs in South Africa to create and save jobs – all programs helped to shape the present and future of local communities in their own way.
Without a doubt, the winners from the 2017/2018 Trust Awards Special Edition have continued the J&J tradition of giving back in purposeful ways. As part of our 10 Years of Trust campaign celebrating a decade of empowering change makers on the front lines of health, we also grew how we give back to winning programs. In this year’s special addition, we created new categories (including Employees’ Choice) and increased the total prize money from €35,000 to €50,000. Prize money is reinvested back into the programs to continue their work.
