CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) has announced a CSR partnership with UPJ, to launch CSR Europe's European wide initiative Deploy your Talents in Germany.
Facing the challenges of digitalisation and the Application Economy, companies in Germany have to rely on a highly skilled workforce, especially in the areas related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education. The objective of Deploy your Talents is to help close the gap between the need of new talents in STEM studies and the interest of young people in these areas.
The initiative is part of CA Technologies’ recently launched Create Tomorrow programme in EMEA, which recognises the skills gaps in STEM and aligns all Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes and Community Affairs initiatives to respond to this issue. This support underpins CA Technologies’ pledge to the European Commission’s Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, which aims to address the major shortfall in the development of IT expertise across Europe.
Deploy Your Talents, CSR Europe's European wide programme aims to inspire secondary school students to consider future careers in STEM, by helping them understand the connections between studies and careers, and the skills and capabilities necessary to succeed in STEM industry sectors. A key objective of the initiative is also to tackle gender stereotypes associated with science, technology, engineering and maths studies in order to reduce the imbalance in the number of women in STEM careers.
In the course of the next two months, CA employee volunteers will visit schools in the Mainz and Koeln areas and invite the students to the regional company offices. CA employees will give insights on the importance of technology for everyday life, talk about their careers and commence workshops in which students will learn more about job profiles in the application economy, the growing impact of technology on our life, new emerging jobs stemming from technology innovation and the future of work.
