Communicating corporate social responsibility

The voluntary guidelines for communicating corporate social responsibility were developed on the invitation of and with the support of the European Commission, and are based on the evidence of the business practices of 45 European companies, with the aim to provide practical guidance on developing effective reporting practices.

The report comprises of a wide study on companies' communication and reporting practices on CSR. It sets out the major findings and the current trends in CSR issues that companies communicate about, provides an in-depth analysis of the way companies report and focuses on how companies measure their performance.

The report contains four main themes:

  • Voluntary guidelines for action
  • Analysis and current trends
  • Strategies for reporting and examples of business practices
  • Measuring a company's performance
