On 24 February, Alcatel-Lucent opened its learning facility in Sydney with an official launch ceremony attended by senior clients and partners. Procter & Gamble and World Vision equip and empower Zimbabweans in fight against cholera

As Zimbabwe continues to confront a cholera epidemic tied to failing water and sanitation infrastructure, a new World Vision project supported by the Procter & Gamble Children's Safe Drinking Water Program is underway, providing Zimbabweans with the tools and training necessary to protect themselves, their families and their communities. The community-driven programme, funded by a $200,000 grant from P&G, will enable World Vision staff and volunteers to distribute two and a half million PUR(TM) Purifier of Water packets benefiting 10,000 households and an estimated 250,000 people… Read more

Foretica partners with Spanish universities and student associations on CSR conferences

Forética, one of CSR Europe's national partner organisations in Spain, cooperates with the student organisation AIESEC on a CSR conference hosted on March 26-27 by the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sevilla. For the fourth consecutive year, the conference offers a forum for the exchange of views between academic and business participants and raises awareness on CSR tools and trends. ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih launches volunteer programme in partnership with East Europe Foundation

ArcelorMittalArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, Ukraine, has collaborated with the East Europe Foundation to design a programme called ‘Everyone Has a Right to Work'. The aim of the programme is to help the city's social orphans integrate into society. United Nations Habitat selects two ArcelorMittal Foundation projects as among the best of 2008

ArcelorMittalThe two projects that were supported by ArcelorMittal in Brazil, BemBank and Movive, were included in the UN Habitat's list of best practices for 2008. The award was launched in 1995 during preparations for the 2nd United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) as a means of identifying best practice among projects that work to improve living conditions on a sustainable basis. The projects look to support underprivileged neighbourhoods in Brazil in which over 31,000 people suffer from poverty, financial exclusion, difficulties in accessing credits, unhealthy housing, weak community organisation and poor water and electricity connections… Read more

New catalogue of good CR practices published by Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad

Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad, one of CSR Europe's national partner organisatons in Spein, and Red Eléctrica de España have published a new compilation of good practices in corporate responsibility.The publication includes good practices from 45 companies in areas such as innovation, stakeholder dialogue, human resources management, corporate governance and environmental preservation, among others. Intel Ireland invites schools to participate in "Week of Wonder"

IntelOn 9-13 February, Intel Ireland participated in "Week of Wonder", a nationwide week-long series of events held to coincide with National Engineers week in Ireland. The programme is coordinated by STEPS to engineering and is supported by Discover Science & Engineering and Engineers Ireland. The initiative was hosted across Ireland with Intel in Leixlip holding a number of events throughout the week. IBM "serious game" provides training to tackle global business challenges

IBMIBM has announced INNOV8 v.2, a new version of its "serious game" that helps students and professionals hone their business and technology skills in a video game format. Building on the success of the original INNOV8 in the academic community, INNOV8 v.2 will be available at no cost to businesses and academic institutions for simulations and training. The new version features puzzles and tasks that challenge players to tackle real-world challenges. First Vattenfall charging station for MINI E cars opens in Berlin

VattenfallVattenfall Europe AG and the BMW Group have successfully launched their shared project "MINI E Berlin Powered by Vattenfall" with test drives on the streets of Berlin. The electric cars are being charged up at Vattenfall's first charging station in Berlin-Treptow, and more stations are due to be installed soon. 100 men and women from Berlin will be given an opportunity to test out the cars under everyday conditions during two user phases each lasting six months.
