Digita Award for Intel Teach - Advanced Online in Germany

IntelOne of the so called "Learning Paths" (40 hour course) within the Public Private Partnership "Intel Teach - Advanced Online" won the prestigous Digita Award at this year's Didacta Fair, the largest education fair in Europe. It was awarded to three teachers for their project Using Wiki in professional training, handed over by Mrs. Heister-Neumann, Minister of Education for the state of Lower-Saxony. Intel Teach Advanced Online is run in collaboration between Intel and all 16 Ministries of Education in Germany and represents a key pillar for Intel's CSR activities… Read more

Spain: Club de Excelencia organises CSR training for business and stakeholders

Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad, CSR Europe's national partner organisation in Spain, in collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya and Endesa is organising a training programme on "Corporate Responsibility in the company" at the Catalan Water Agency in April-May 2009. The training programme is particularly aimed at managers of large, medium and small companies, academics, business associations and third sector organisations. The course will train students to integrate corporate responsibility into the management systems and corporate strategy and generate value to their companies through dialogue with stakeholders… Read more

Ireland: New survey reveals the importance of corporate responsibility to consumers in a downturn

Companies who are socially and environmentally responsible can claim a major competitive advantage but they need to communicate their activities to Irish consumers, according to a new survey by Business in the Community Ireland.The 2009 Survey of Consumer Attitudes in Ireland towards Corporate Responsibility was commissioned by Business in the Community Ireland in conjunction with Ipsos MORI and it is the third such survey in the past decade, with previous versions taking place in 2003 and 2006.When forming a decision to buy a product or service, 8 out of 10 people in Ireland say that an organisation's commitment to social and environmental responsibility is important… Read more

Toyota Spain and WWF organise reforestation day

ToyotaToyota Spain, in partnership with Spanish daily newspaper La Gaceta de los Negocios and WWF Espana, held a reforestation day in the Sierra del Rincon mountains near Madrid on 7 March 2009. More than 150 volunteers of all ages gathered to plant 1,000 native trees in an area that had been a pine plantation for a number of decades. The aim is to re-establish biodiversity in the forest and to give the region back its traditional appearance.Volunteers included Toyota Prius owners, and Toyota employees. Read more (TFfE)

Toyota Hellas promotes road safety in Greece

ToyotaToyota Hellas, together with the Greek Institute of Road Safety, RSI Panos Mylonas, has held a two-day road safety training event at the Ellinogermaniki Agogi private school. The training, held on 18 and 19 March 2009, emphasised the importance of road safety - especially for young people. While the training was primarily targeted at students, parents and teachers were also invited to participate.TOP-25’s Alcokart and Driving Simulator were utilised during the training to provide  practical experiences for the trainees… Read more

Toyota Motor Italy supports eco-schools programme

ToyotaToyota Motor Italy (TMI) has announced additional assistance for the Foundation for Environmental Education's (FEE) Eco-schools programme in Italy. TMI has supported the production of 30,000 CDs containing information on environmental degradation and sustainable development. The CDs were distributed to the 230 schools in Italy that are part of the Eco-Schools network. These schools have over 50,000 pupils. The CD was launched during an awards ceremony for schools that took part in Eco-school's recent Environment and Innovation contest… Read more

Delta Maxi introduces biodegradable plastic bags in its retail facilities in Serbia

In Serbia, Delta Maxi Company has started introducing biodegradable plastic bags in all of its retail facilities (Maxi, Mini Maxi and Tempo) wanting to contribute to the preservation of the environment with its own resources. The plan is to completely replace regular plastic bags with biodegradable ones within a period of three months. In the next phase of this project, biodegradable bags will be introduced in all Delta Maxi retail facilities in markets of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina… Read more

Procter & Gamble increases targets for 2012 sustainability goals

The Procter & Gamble Company has announced increased targets for its 2012 sustainability goals. The revised goals are: Develop and market at least $50 billion in cumulative sales of "sustainable innovation products"(SIP), which are products with a significantly reduced (>10%) environmental footprint versus previous or alternative products. When compared against P&G's original target of $20 billion in cumulative SIP sales, the new goal reflects a strengthened pipeline of initiatives… Read more
