Volkswagen awards internal Environment prize for the sixth time

VolkswagenVolkswagen awarded the internal Environment prize for the sixth time following a Europe-wide tendering. The jury received 62 applications. Proactive innovations in the area of gear manufacturing, varnishing as well as refrigerant additives were among others awarded with prizes in the categories ‘production' and ‘product'. Volkswagen presents latest Sustainability Report in Brussels

VolkswagenOn 8 October 2009 Volkswagen presented its latest Sustainability Report 2009/2010 in the Representation of Lower Saxony in Brussels. Dr. Gerhard Prätorius, Volkswagen AG, Head of CSR and Sustainability, introduced the report and highlighted achievements like the certification of the report along the AccountAbility AA 1000 AS (2008) standard. The Dow Live Earth Run for Water 2010

DowThe Dow  Chemical Company has announced the Dow Live Earth Run for Water, a series of 6km run/walks, concerts and water education activities taking place around the world on April 18, 2010.  It is the largest global initiative in history aimed at helping solve the water crisis and empowering everyone to be a part of the solution. The distance of the run/walks is meaningful - it's the average distance women and children in many impacted countries walk everyday to secure water. Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau, Pete Wentz, Angelique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher will lend their names and their time in support of this important cause… Read more

Panasonic take top place in Car Free Challenge

PanasonicPanasonic has won this year's Car Free Challenge at its first attempt. A quarter of its 355 staff, based in Willoughby Road, Bracknell, took up the challenge and shared lifts or left their cars at home on Friday, September 25. More than 2,000 local employees took part in the challenge.The council lays down the challenge each year to see which organisation can get the highest percentage of staff to travel to work using more sustainable modes of transport. The aim is to raise awareness and potential benefits of the travel options for people working in Bracknell Forest… Read more

More than 100,000 young people benefit from HP´s GET-IT training courses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa

HPHP EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) has unveiled some of the success stories so far that have underpinned the GET-IT graduate entrepreneurship programme in 2009. HP also announced that the programme will have involved 100 training centres and aims to reach  approx. 100.000 graduates in 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa by the end of this year. The GET-IT programme launched in 2007 provides IT training to unemployed youth and graduates between the ages of 16 and 25, and helps potential entrepreneurs acquire IT skills with the aim of enabling them to become better placed to create and run their own businesses… Read more

Unilever embraces 30th World Food Day

UnileverLast school year, Unilever activities funded school meals for 76 000 children in Kenya, Ghana, Indonesia, Colombia, Pakistan and the Philippines. This year Unilever aims to reach 100 000 children. World Food Day has been an annual event since 1979. Unilever fundraising activities on World Food Day will include, ‘a meal for a meal' whereby Unilever employees can donate the cost of a WFP school meal whilst buying their own lunch. HP joins WWF’s Global Forest and Trade Network

HPHP announced on 15 october it has joined the Global Forest & Trade Network in North America (GFTN-NA), a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) initiative linking more than 300 companies globally that share a commitment to responsible forestry. By becoming a member of the GFTN, HP has committed to progressively increase the amount of responsibly harvested fiber used in its paper products and sold globally. Promotion of a balanced nutrition: the FOOD project (Fighting Obesity through Offer and Demand)

The FOOD programme, Accor's new initiative, is a public-private consortium made up of six European countries, aimed at promoting access to healthy food choices by adapting both what restaurants serve (the offer) and what employees want (the demand). In the last 10 months, FOOD experts have observed and analyzed the needs and expectations of these two groups through surveys.FOOD has set ambitious goals for the next two years: to increase awareness through information, educate through training and build effective company policies in coordination with HR directors, sustainable development departments, trade unions and company medical services… Read more
