Panasonic employees work with Pump Aid in Malawi
Talent for Tomorrow (TfT) is a two year development programme for Panasonic employees below management level based in Europe. As part of this programme, participants complete a six month corporate social responsibility (CSR) project working with a charity or social enterprise. Since July 2009, Nicole Monleon of PME and Greg Clark of PMUK have been working with Pump Aid, a leading water and sanitation charity which operates in rural Zimbabwe and Malawi. Pump Aid developed a simple and effective water pump at very low cost, called the Elephant Pump which has been built in response to and in co-operation with local communities in Africa… Read more

Forética participates in the EU, Latin America and Caribbean Summit
The Second Summit of EU, Latin America and Caribbean under the title "Responsibility and Competitiveness" will be held on 28 and 29 October and is organized by the German CSR organization Went Capacity Building International in cooperation with the Economic Cooperation and Development Ministry of Germany and the Labor Ministry of Argentina. New IBM consulting service helps save environment and money
A new IBM consulting service can help clients develop methods to collect, manage and analyze supplier information for energy use, environmental impact, quality, safety, cost, efficiency, and labor practices. This offering draws on IBM's own experience running one of the largest, most complex supply chains in the world, including development of an expansive database covering 30,000 supplier locations in 60 countries to help collect and analyze data on a wide range of sustainability issues. Volkswagen awards internal Environment prize for the sixth time
Volkswagen awarded the internal Environment prize for the sixth time following a Europe-wide tendering. The jury received 62 applications. Proactive innovations in the area of gear manufacturing, varnishing as well as refrigerant additives were among others awarded with prizes in the categories ‘production' and ‘product'. Volkswagen presents latest Sustainability Report in Brussels
On 8 October 2009 Volkswagen presented its latest Sustainability Report 2009/2010 in the Representation of Lower Saxony in Brussels. Dr. Gerhard Prätorius, Volkswagen AG, Head of CSR and Sustainability, introduced the report and highlighted achievements like the certification of the report along the AccountAbility AA 1000 AS (2008) standard. The Dow Live Earth Run for Water 2010
The Dow Chemical Company has announced the Dow Live Earth Run for Water, a series of 6km run/walks, concerts and water education activities taking place around the world on April 18, 2010. It is the largest global initiative in history aimed at helping solve the water crisis and empowering everyone to be a part of the solution. The distance of the run/walks is meaningful - it's the average distance women and children in many impacted countries walk everyday to secure water. Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau, Pete Wentz, Angelique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher will lend their names and their time in support of this important cause… Read more

Panasonic take top place in Car Free Challenge
Panasonic has won this year's Car Free Challenge at its first attempt. A quarter of its 355 staff, based in Willoughby Road, Bracknell, took up the challenge and shared lifts or left their cars at home on Friday, September 25. More than 2,000 local employees took part in the challenge.The council lays down the challenge each year to see which organisation can get the highest percentage of staff to travel to work using more sustainable modes of transport. The aim is to raise awareness and potential benefits of the travel options for people working in Bracknell Forest… Read more

More than 100,000 young people benefit from HP´s GET-IT training courses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
HP EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) has unveiled some of the success stories so far that have underpinned the GET-IT graduate entrepreneurship programme in 2009. HP also announced that the programme will have involved 100 training centres and aims to reach approx. 100.000 graduates in 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa by the end of this year. The GET-IT programme launched in 2007 provides IT training to unemployed youth and graduates between the ages of 16 and 25, and helps potential entrepreneurs acquire IT skills with the aim of enabling them to become better placed to create and run their own businesses… Read more
