Toyota Motor Europe volunteers work on Greenway again
Plans to create a greenway linking the headquarters of Toyota Motor Europe (TME) to the nearby Technical Centre took another step forward on 14 March with 140 volunteers joining forces to work on the route. The Toyota Greenway will run for 7 km and includes a cycling and walking trail which will link the two Toyota facilities. Maarten Sper from the Vlaamse Landmaatschappij outlined the current and future plans for cycling and walking trails in the neighbourhood of Toyota's facilities in Brussels… Read more

Toyota publishes social contributions brochure
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) has recently published a new brochure on its corporate social responsibility activities. The brochure aims to raise the awareness of TMMT employees and the local community about the work TMMT undertakes. The brochure outlines the guidelines and strategy TMMT has developed in the areas of CSR and social contributions in general. The new brochure has been distributed to all employees. New CSV Report released by Nestlé
The new Creating Shared Value (CSV) Report 2009 highlights Nestlé's drive in Nutrition, Water and Environmental Sustainability and Rural Development. The full 90 page CSV Report, available as a download, demonstrates that Nestlé has achieved a 59% reduction of water withdrawal per tonne of product since 2000. The Key Performance Indicator section, collected throughout the year by hundreds of employees across the business - from factories to sales and marketing to management, also revealed that over 160,000 individual farmers and suppliers were trained through capacity-building programmes… Read more

Alcatel-Lucent announced on Friday 12th that it is one of the finalists of the European Commission's Sustainable Energy Europe Awards Competition 2010. IBM’s World Community Grid’s computing strength powers breakthrough research that will guide the development of new class of AIDS drugs
A team of researchers at the renowned Scripps Research Institute has discovered two new compounds that prove the existence of new binding sites on HIV protease. Associate Professor C. David Stout, senior author of the study, explained "These results open the door to a whole new approach to drug design against HIV protease," which is an enzyme used by HIV to create new, infectious viral particles. This experimental breakthrough will serve as the basis for new drug development to combat the increasing number of drug-resistant HIV strains and to improve the potency of current drug therapies… Read more
