Sony launches "Road to Zero" environmental plan and sets 2015 mid-term targets

SonySony Corporation announced on 7th April its "Road to Zero" global environmental plan. The plan, which includes a long-term goal of achieving a zero environmental footprint by 2050, uses backcasting methods to set specific mid-term environmental targets for the next five years in line with that goal. Nestlé helping its suppliers optimise water use and productivity in Italy

In the Piacenza and Parma region of Italy, in recent years, water has become scarcer, especially during the summer. Nestlé Italia decided to engage more closely with its tomato suppliers, to secure its supply of tomatoes and significantly reduce the amount of fresh water used for irrigation. The three-year project with Consorzio Interregionale Ortofrutticoli, a cooperative of tomato farmers, aims to maximise tomato production and optimise irrigation in 10 pilot farms with differing soil conditions, by using solar-powered CropSense Soil Moisture Monitoring technology… Read more

Nestlé’s Vittel reforestation pledge to combat climate change

Nestlé Waters brand Vittel pledges to plant 350,000 trees in the South American rainforest to help fight climate change.The trees will be planted in 2010 under an existing project in the Bolivian Amazon and a new project in Peru. Through this ambitious project of reforestation, Nestlé Waters France also intends to help maintain ecosystems and biodiversity. Vodafone to bring the benefits of the internet to many more people in developing markets

Vodafone is seeking to bring the benefits of the internet to more people in developing markets through the launch of a customised version of the Opera Mini browser designed to run on low-cost handsets on 2G networks. The move aims to enable as many people as possible to experience the internet for the first time, and to enjoy the social advantages it can bring through the spread of email and commerce-based applications. EABIS: Kick-off of largest project on measuring the impacts of CSR policies and practices

EABIS is happy to be one of the sixteen leading research institutions from all over Europe that join forces in a ground breaking research project that enquires into and evaluates the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on EU economies and societies. The kick-off meeting was hosted by Nottingham University on 26th March. The project entitled "Impact Measurement and Performance Analysis of CSR" (IMPACT) is funded within the EU's 7th Research Framework.
