SAP releases sustainability update including carbon for the second quarter

SAP AG released its quarterly sustainability update with a preliminary, unaudited CO2 emissions report for the second quarter ending June 30, 2010. The company's worldwide CO2 emissions slightly decreased to 115 kilotonnes from 120 kilotonnes in the previous quarter. Despite a surge in business travel prompted by the economic recovery, SAP was able to lower its overall carbon footprint in the second quarter from the levels of the first quarter by reducing its energy consumption and increasing the purchase of renewable electricity… Read more

Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion named WHAT CAR? Green Car of the Year

VolkswagenOn 15 July 2010 Volkswagen's BlueMotion range of vehicles has added a further three awards - including overall Green Car of the Year - to its list of accolades, this time at the What Car? Green Awards 2010 which were presented at a ceremony at Twickenham Stadium in London. The Golf BlueMotion was named best Green Small Family Car, and also beat eight other category winners to claim the overall Green Car of the Year title. Measuring the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility: Does CSR matter?

Öko-Institut and EABIS together with a consortium of fourteen leading European research institutions launched on August 23  the project website for a unique research project that measures the impacts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): www.csr-impact.eu.  It will generate evidence and new insights if and how CSR impacts on sustainability and competitiveness in the EU 27. It will develop a conceptual framework and test existing and new tools for impact measurement.
