Sanofi-Aventis publishes its 2009 CSR Report

SanofiMultinational healthcare group sanofi-aventis has published its 2009 corporate social responsibility report entitled 'Acting ethically and responsibly for the patient'. For the first time the report is available in electronic format only, enriched with videos and animations.The report includes interviews with chief executive Christopher A. Viehbacher and senior vice president of corporate social responsibility Gilles Lhernould as well as setting out the Group's overall CSR strategy.  The document identifies challenges, establishes priorities for the company and considers the performance of sanofi-aventis across the four key strands of its CSR activity: Patient 21, Ethics 21, People 21 and Planet 21… Read more

European Employee Volunteering Awards open for entries

Organisations across Europe can compete in five different categories to showcase best practice for employability skillsAfter the launch of the European Employee Volunteering Awards' website www.eeva2011.org last month by the Business in the Community International Campaign, the Awards open today for entries to receive applications for the best employee volunteering initiatives in Europe. Enel publishes its Sustainability Report

EnelFor the eighth consecutive year, Enel has published its Sustainability Report - this year closely connected to its Annual Report. Toyota Motor Industries Poland supports "Don't Waste the Waste" project

Toyota"Don't waste the waste. Let's help the Earth get rid of it" is Toyota Motor Industries Poland's third project to raise awareness of waste treatment among the local community in the Jelcz-Laskowice area of Poland. The campaign aims to reduce the amount of waste generated, while increasing reuse, recycling, and the proper segregation of waste. The project is jointly funded by TMIP and the Toyota Fund for Europe (TFfE).Following discussions with the office of the Mayor of Jelcz-Laskowice, TMIP decided to help the local community solve the problem of illegal landfills… Read more

Nestlé launches global plan for sustainable coffee

Nestlé will invest CHF 500 million in a wide-ranging plan - endorsed by the Rainforest Alliance - to address responsible farming, sourcing and consumption across its coffee supply chain. Nestlé, which purchases around 780,000 tonnes of green coffee a year or 10% of the world's supply, unveiled the Nescafé Plan in Mexico City on August 27. Under the Plan, the company will: double the amount of coffee Nestlé buys directly from farmers to 180,000 tonnes over the next five years; deliver 220 million high yielding, disease-resistant plants to farmers over the next 10 years; ensure all directly purchased green coffee will meet 4C sustainability standards by 2015, among others… Read more

Coca-Cola Hellenic supports emergency relief for flood victims in Eastern Europe

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling CompanyWhen devastating floods brought death and destruction to hundreds of communities in Eastern Europe between May and August, Coca-Cola Hellenic teams in each of the disaster areas across seven countries responded in an effort to provide support and bring relief to the victims. The employees worked closely with rescue organisations, local authorities, crisis centres and charitable organisations, as well as national Red Cross representatives. Altogether, a total of more than 250,000 litres of safe water and other beverages were handed out to those in need as well as others involved in the rescue and recovery missions… Read more

Merck provides new funding to fight HIV/AIDS in Botswana

MSDMerck announced on August 24 the Merck Company Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are committing an additional $60 million to support Botswana's African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships (ACHAP). A unique programme developed in 2001 with and led by the Government of Botswana, ACHAP is one of sub-Saharan Africa's oldest public-private partnerships. The new funding will continue the program's original efforts in treatment and care but also will support the second phase initiatives to meet the current treatment needs of the 137,000 Batswana (people from Botswana) living with HIV and new patients enrolled… Read more

European Employee Volunteering Awards launched by BITC

Business in the Community's International Team has launched the European Employee Volunteering Awards to reward companies of 22 countries in Europe that have developed employee volunteering schemes, which are helping people facing barriers to work increase their employability skills.
