BASF Launches Eco-Label Comparison Site

BASFChemical company BASF has launched a website to help customers sort out the crowded world of eco-labels and certifications. The SELECT (Sustainability, Eco-Labeling and Environmental Certification Tracking) Eco-Label Manager is a database designed for the strategic management of eco-labels, environmental claims, directories and rating systems. The Prince of Wales calls on more businesses to help homeless people back into work

On Wednesday 16 February, HRH The Prince of Wales will meet business leaders in London at an event to mark getting 2000 homeless people back into work over 10 years through the Ready for Work programme. During the event, which will take place at Arlington in Camden, The Prince will highlight the increase in the numbers of homeless people in recent months and urge companies and "join in" to help the Ready for Work programme double its work and support another 2,000 clients into work by 2015. Hitachi Wins Ethical Certification

HitachiHitachi Data Systems has earned an Ethics Inside Certification from the think-tank Ethisphere Institute. Hitachi has won the mark by going beyond legal requirements to cultivate and maintain an exemplary culture of compliance and ethics, according to the institute. To win the award, companies must implement standards and systems to reasonably prevent compliance failures and ethical breakdowns. Nominations open for Nestlé award in Creating Shared Value

The nomination period for the CHF 500 000 (approx. USD 480 000) Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value is now open. Nominations will be accepted until 30 June 2011 and the Prize will be awarded in June 2012. MVO Nederland moved to a new office, still close to the central station in Utrecht

Beside sustainable investments, a.o. in C2C carpets, second hand office furniture, eco-cleaning, fair trade coffee, we introduced total flexible working. We outsourced our ICT to a green datacenter, employees can work time and place independent, we almost doubled the number of work-stations in the office, we share the office with other CSR initiatives, in the future we might prevent the use of double equipment (so no private and business phone and computer). As energy use (heating, electricity and mobility) is the most important ecological effect of an office,  our ecological performance per employee will be significantly better… Read more

Telefónica's new Think Big program helps young people execute their ideas to help local communities

Telefonica Telefónica O2 in the Czech Republic has joined the Telefónica's pan-European Think Big social action program, which helps young people execute their ideas and projects to support their communities. The O2 Foundation will run the program in the Czech Republic and plans to support up to 150 projects developed by young people aged 13 to 26 throughout the Czech Republic. Young people will be eligible to receive up to 90 thousand crowns to carry out their projects."I firmly believe that young people can have a positive influence and change our society for the better… Read more
