Intel Launches Live Video, Real-Time Emissions Metrics for Public

IntelIntel has launched a public website, complete with a live video feed, to inform New Mexico residents about plant emissions levels, an Intel staffer said at a conference yesterday. The site reports real-time emissions and abatement data of Intel's manufacturing facility in New Mexico, and offers a live video feed of steam being released from plant cooling towers. Vodafone embarks on green drive to cut paper bills by 70pc

Vodafone Ireland has launched a new paperless billing campaign "Goodbye Paper Bills, hello Trees". For every 72 customers who switch to paperless billing, not only will a tree be saved, but Vodafone pledges to plant an additional tree. By reducing its annual billing paper consumption by 70pc, Vodafone could save almost 5,000 trees and 500 tonnes of CO2 per annum. The company has partnered with the Tree Council of Ireland and has committed to plant a forest in each of the four provinces of Ireland. Read more (Source: BITC Ireland)

Cargill buys giant kites to reduce carbon emissions

CargillShipping company Cargill plans to use giant sails to reduce its fuel consumption. Cargill has signed an agreement with Hamburg-based SkySails GmbH & Co. to use its 320 sq m kites, which fly ahead of vessels at a height of 100 to 420 meters. The kites generating propulsion which can reduce the consumption of bunker fuel by up to 35 percent. Later this year, Cargill will install a kite on a handysize vessel, which weighs between 25,000 and 30,000 deadweight tons. It will be the world's largest vessel propelled by a kite… Read more
