CSR Europe highlights the importance of collaboration at Green Standards Week

Stefan Crets, Executive Director of CSR Europe, was privileged to take part in the Green Standards week, hosted by CSR Europe’s member, Microsoft. The Green Standards Week (17-21 September, Paris), brought together leading specialists in the field, from top policy-makers to engineers, designers, planners, government officials and many other experts.

The main purpose of the event was to raise awareness on the importance and opportunities of using ICT standards to build a green economy. Stefan Crets took part in a roundtable session on ‘Cloud Computing: Driving the Transition to a Low-Carbon, Resource-Efficient and Socially Inclusive Economy,’ moderated by Microsoft’s Senior Government Affairs Manager, Ray Pinto.

The objective of the session was to highlight that technology has a role to play in making human and societal improvements. However, Stefan Crets underlined that while technology can be a great enabler, it will not be possible to make sustainable growth a reality by working in isolation. He therefore pointed out the capacity to make a stronger impact on society through developing collaborative, cross-sector platforms, which focus on developing smart, technological solutions for smart societies.
