Unilever releases video exposing the impacts of advertising on vulnerable children
Unilever has released a video exposing the negative impacts of the advertising industry on children. The video uses the tag line 'Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does' highlighting the vulnerability of children to the cognitive ability that advertising has towards creating stereotypes and in this case, with relation to the beauty industry, pressurising children to adjust to the 'right look'.
The video has shone the spotlight on businesses involved in marketing products to children and highlights the neccessity for businesses to adhere to a global standard on Children's Rights and Business Principles, developed by Unicef, the UN Global Compact and Save the Children.
