Focus on MEDINA, a partnership between Merck Sharp and Dohme de España SA
Fundación MEDINA is a non-profit public-private partnership between Merck Sharp and Dohme de España S.A., the Junta de Andalucía and the University of Granada, to discover new compounds and innovative therapies for unmet medical needs.
MEDINA is actively collaborating with Spanish and European academic institutions in the discovery of new antifungals for the treatment of Invasive Aspergillosis, new malaria inhibitors, and the development of new candidates for the treatment of Lateral Amyotrophic Sclerosis. Medina's strategy is to establish scientific collaborations with academia, and biotech and pharmaceutical companies desiring to interrogate their target with one of the world's most productive microbial extract collections.
