European Commission Work Programme 2010: a strong emphasis on CSR

In the Annex 1 of its Work Programme 2010, entitled "Strategic initiatives scheduled for adoption in 2010", the European Commission highlights the outline of the Communication on CSR it will publish for 2010-2011.

As said page 20, the Communication "will focus on rebuilding trust in business on the part of European citizens. It will address the question of how enterprises disclose environmental, social and governance information. The second emerging issue is that of business and human rights in the light of the recent UN developments. Thirdly, it will support and influence different international CSR instruments, such as the UN Global Compact, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the draft ISO standard on social responsibility."
