Corporate Responsibility comes of age
CSR has come a long way. Where once seen as an add-on to business, a recent poll of Business in the Community's most senior leaders demonstrates that Corporate Responsibility is now high on their agenda and increasing in significance at board level. Some camps may argue that certain businesses have parked their responsible business activities whilst they ride out the recession, but the poll results tell us that: two in three (67%) respondents believe that a more responsible economy is likely to emerge from the recession; and nearly all (97%), believe that individual business leaders must be seen to act to restore confidence lost due to the financial crisis.
